PEDIATRIC ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON
ALBERTA CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for the position of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, starting in the summer of 2025. Qualifications include an MD, completion of an orthopedic surgery residency program, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in orthopedic surgery, and fellowship training in pediatric orthopedic surgery. The successful candidate must display experience in pediatric orthopedic trauma care in addition to general pediatric orthopedic conditions.
Applicants must be eligible for independent practice licensure in the province of Alberta. Special consideration may be given to candidates with graduate degrees or additional training in medical education, clinical epidemiology, and/or applied research.
The successful candidate will become a member of both the Sections of Pediatric Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery and will work in a collaborative model to advance patient care and quality improvement. Clinical duties will include providing pediatric orthopedic surgery patient care to the community of Calgary and surrounding areas. Call will be according to the site and Alberta Health Services policies, with call including all aspects of pediatric orthopedic trauma, excluding spine. Appointment to the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary will be expected. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level will be required. Participation in research related to clinical outcomes or medical education is expected. Committee duties will be expected as the need arises.
