Recovery Alberta, Edmonton Zone in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Psychiatry, is inviting applications from Pediatricians with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, and speech language pathology provide assistance for more than 1.4 million people in Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
We are looking for a 0.1-0.2 FTE (1 day weekly) Pediatrician to provide medical care for up to 18 teens on Unit 35 and 10 children on Unit 36 at Royal Alexandra Hospital (acute pediatric psychiatry units). The kids who are admitted often have significant medical needs and at times are medically fragile and complex. The Pediatrician's role includes assessing significant medical conditions and starting or adjusting medical treatment, connecting with parents/guardians, consulting with pediatric specialists such as at Stollery Hospital as needed, performing medical exams as needed, liaising with relevant primary care providers and communicating with the MRP child and adolescent psychiatrist. They also will be working within a multidisciplinary team that includes child and adolescent psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, frontline staff, and managers.
Remuneration is fee-for-service.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and preferably have subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. S/he must also be licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
