Physician – Seniors Care – Age Care Mount Royal Long Term Care Centre

📁
FM Care of the Elderly/Seniors Care
📅
MED0004DB Requisition #

Description:

At Age Care Mount Royal Long Term Care Centre, there are 97 beds, 4 floors, some floors secure & some floors non-secure.

All residents have a diagnosis of a complex mental health condition (ie. AUD, SUD, schizophrenia etc) and a physical health issue that requires the support of LTC (ie. Hx of CVA, end stage COPD, end stage liver disease, Korsakoff Dementia, TBI, anoxic brain injury, MS, Parkinson’s, etc). Some/many of the residents lack capacity.

We are well supported via Recovery Alberta with the ABC Team (SW/nursing/psychology) for behavior management suggestions for staff/MDs and they work 1:1 with residents who need supports, plus an ABC Ream Psychiatrist (Dr. Jeremy Quickfall) who does monthly rounds on any residents we request support with.  Dr. Quickfall can do MD to MD support between monthly rounds via phone/secure email.

AgeCare supports include an amazing Pharmacist, OT, Dietician, SW, Rec manager, Nurse Educator, Nurse Clinicians (day and night shifts) plus a nurse on each floor. We also have Mental Health support workers on 8 am- 8pm and 24h Security Guard (contracted) support.

The Resident Care Manager, Director of Care and Executive Director are also excellent and are very helpful if you need any extra resources/supports.

We are located at 1813 9th St SW (just off 17th Ave).  There is free street parking withing a block of the building. We use Point Click Care as our EMR, and paper charts for the orders/TMRs.  It is expected that you round 2x/month at a minimum and you are welcome to take any number of residents you are comfortable with.

The Calgary Frail Elderly ARP is the best renumeration plan and pays at a rate of ~ 231$/h (based on 5 min increments). The ARP requires that you bill for work during daytime/weekday hours. After hours work is billed FFS. The annual cost for being part of the ARP is ~ $700/yr and includes all the billing fees for ClinicAid (you do your own shadow billings through this program to get paid), monthly meetings (optional but encouraged to attend), Christmas party and spring retreat. The ARP has > 100 MDs in the group. This ARP has admin support to get you enrolled and can help out with basic billing questions, plus Clinic Aid provides excellent billing support if any other more complex billing issues.

You can be a part of the City Wide LTC call group to have all your evenings/weekends/STATs covered. Participation in the group requires 1 week of after hours call coverage for 2 quadrants of the city.  This call can be done as 2 quadrants in 1 week (busier week) or 1 week per quadrant. You will need connect care (basic) training/ access to do this call as some quadrants of the city have CareWest sites which run on Connect Care.

We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, across the Calgary Zone.  We are an equal opportunity employer.
