Deliverables for this position include:

  •   Represent the Section at the Calgary Zone Surgical Quality Council within the Department of Surgery’s Office of Surgical Quality
  • Present Calgary Zone Reports for surgical activity within specific section.
  •  Liaise with Surgeon Champions for the NSQIP program at all Calgary Zone acute care sites on issues relevant to specific section
  •  Serve as a Member of the Section Executive Committee
  •  Provide Surgical Quality Reports at Section and Department Executive Committee meetings
  •  Develop strategies, in alignment with the Office of Surgical Quality, to improve surgical outcomes
  •  Liaise with the specific Section Institutes and relevant SCN to review Semi-annual Calgary Zone Reports
  •  Represent the section on any zone wide quality assurance review that involves that section.
  •  Support the section with any zone wide safety initiative that is implemented
  •  Represent the Section of Pediatric Surgery on the ACH Quality Assurance Committee including participation in the review of quality assurance reports (QAR) related to pediatric surgical services and review of any Reporting & Learning System for Patient Safety (RLS) reports related to ACH surgical services.
  •  Represent the Section of Pediatric Surgery on the ACH Clinical Patient Safety Committee including participation in the chart reviews of patient mortalities.

  •  Provide reports at ACH OR Committee regarding:
  •  Quality improvement initiatives in the Section of Pediatric Surgery
  •  QARs involving pediatric surgical services
  •  RLS reports pertinent to surgical services and the ACH OR committee.
  •  Represent the Section of Pediatric Surgery at the Calgary Zone Surgical Services Quality Assurance Committee as needed to review QARs related to pediatric surgery.

This role is supported by the Department of Surgery and reports to the Section Chief of Pediatric Surgery.

 

The successful candidate must be a member of the Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone Section of Pediatric Surgery and RCPSC certified.
