Alberta Health Services, (AHS), Calgary Zone, Department of Rural Medicine is inviting applications from physicians for the position of Section Chief, Airdrie. This 0.1FTE position is governed by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws and reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Rural Medicine.
The Section Chief will provide leadership and medical support to family physicians privileged within the Clinical Section of Airdrie. This leadership role will collaborate with local physicians, other leaders within the department, zone, and province. This role also engages with external stakeholders, including, but not limited to the local Primary Care Network, Alberta Medical Association, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and other community leaders.
The Section Chief is responsible for:
- Recommending Medical Staff Appointments and clinical privileges, as well as changes to Appointments and clinical privileges to the ZCDH.
- Developing policies for the Zone Clinical Section.
- Assisting the ZCDH in performing Probationary and Periodic Reviews of the members of the Zone Clinical Section.
- Attending Zone Clinical Department Executive Committee meetings and other meetings as appropriate.
- Other duties as may be delegated by the ZCDH.
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must currently hold an AHS Medical Staff Appointment in good standing, or request and be approved by an Appointment with the Department of Rural Medicine, Calgary Zone.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Section of Airdrie, population health, community and medical staff needs.
- Effective communicator with strong organizational skills and commitment to providing safe and quality services.
- Demonstrated ability to work effective and establish positive working relationships.
- Medical leadership experience including demonstrated ability with decision making responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovate solutions for complex and diverse issues.
