Qualifications include an MD, Certification by the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. The ideal candidate will have acquired clinical training or experience related to Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. The position would commence as soon as July 2024.
The successful candidate will become a member of the Section of Otolaryngology and will practice primarily at the South Health Campus (SHC), joining five existing otolaryngologists at that site. Operating privileges at SHC are provided. Outpatient clinic work will require a commitment to attending the SHC Otolaryngology clinic at least one day per week with options for additional clinic time. Outpatient practice can also be supplemented with out of hospital private office. Dedication to maintaining a practice in General Otolaryngology is required. It is also required that the successful candidate participate in pediatric otolaryngology at the Alberta Childrens Hospital, where operating privileges will be provided. The successful candidate will have opportunities for additional operative time at the chartered surgical facilities as available.
The recruited surgeon will support the mission of the University of Calgary and an appointment to the Cumming School of Medicine will be expected. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. The successful candidate will participate in clinical outcomes and other research projects. They will teach and evaluate residents and medical students in various settings including clinical encounters and surgeries, didactic lectures, seminars, and surgical simulation.
