The Department of Clinical Neurosciences (DCNS) at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine is seeking an academically focused Stroke Neurologist. The successful candidate will join a renowned clinical and academic neurology group that emphasizes excellence in patient care, education, and research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ambulatory stroke care, including Stroke Prevention Clinics, with additional coverage in Urgent or General Neurology Clinics as needed.
  • Deliver inpatient and consultation stroke services in Calgary, including at least 8 weeks per year on the stroke service (with attached weekends) and 1-2 weeks in general neurology.
  • Participate in Calgary’s new two-service stroke model, offering comprehensive acute management and consultative stroke care.
  • Develop and lead a stroke research program focused on clinical trials, epidemiology, and/or stroke-oncology intersections.
  • Mentor research trainees and actively contribute to collaborative projects within the Division of Neurology and the Calgary Stroke Program.
  • Engage in teaching activities for medical students, residents, and fellows, and participate in departmental academic events.

Qualifications:

  • MD with a specialist certificate in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
  • Fellowship in stroke medicine.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care and research, with a proven ability to work in a collaborative and academic environment.
  • Experience or interest in stroke epidemiology, clinical trials, or stroke-oncology research is preferred.
  • Additional training or expertise in stroke diagnostics and management is required.
  • Ability to participate in the Calgary stroke call schedule.

Compensation and Benefits:
