Description:
This position provides essential leadership to the physician group at the 2 East Fanning Tertiary Neurorehab Program (F2E) and serves as the main contact for the unit nurse in charge as well as between the DFM and Carewest on physician related matters for the program.
The position is integral in assisting with the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure 24/ 7 admissions and discharges from the unit, and strives to promote quality assurance and continuing improvement activities, including assisting with infection prevention and control. The position is also an essential part of the medical care team as it ensures provision of interim medical care when attending or on-call physicians are unavailable, hence ensuring uninterrupted medical care delivery.
Additionally, this role is important to ensure efficient smooth operations as it works in collaboration with the 2East unit manager to monitor team performance and take corrective actions when needed.
The position also acts as a liaison between the Medical Director, Integrated Facility Living and Community Hospitalist ARP, by managing matters relating to physician recruitment and performance in collaboration with the Section Chief- Seniors Care, Department of Family Medicine. This position sits on the Continuing Care Medical Services Committee of the Hospitalist ARP and is responsible for recruiting a lead for QI projects at the site.
This role is also critical to ensure continuous professional development by coordinating
professional development opportunities, participating in and facilitating clinical research and
evaluation as appropriate as well as ensuring cooperation with medical teaching programs at
the U of C.

Qualifications:
● Must have a family medicine designation with the College of Family physicians of Canada
● Eligible for licensure and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and CMPA
● Eligible for privileges within the Department of Family Medicine, Alberta Health Services
● Clinical excellence in the described role, with previous experience with managing geriatric syndromes and older adults with mental health issues being an asset
● Excellent clinical, interpersonal and communication skills
● Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team setting to create patient focused solutions
● Exhibits leadership skills and potential
● Desire to participate and contribute to quality improvement activities
● Will be required to attend an in-person interview with an interview panel and provide references upon request
