The Department of Surgery, section of General Surgery is seeking a full-time General Surgeon at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Interest with expertise in Colorectal, Bariatric, Breast or Laparoscopic surgery is not required, but would be an asset.
As the successful candidate you will:
- Establish and maintain a 1.00 FTE General Surgery practice in the community of Medicine Hat. Practice is defined as providing commensurate shifts in keeping with other equivalent practice FTEs as assigned by the medical leader on site in the clinical service.
- Obtain and maintain AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide services.
- Provide call support as per AHS’s call schedules and expectations for General Surgery practices in the Zone or as may otherwise be established or directed by an appropriate Medical Leader including full-time participation in the on-call schedule for Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH).
- Reside in and have as primary residence, the community of Medicine Hat.
- Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies.
- Work collaboratively within the Clinical Department of Surgery, MHRH.
- Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Surgery at the MHRH, including (without limitation) achievement of certain performance indicators as determined by AHS, exercising its discretion reasonably.
Qualifications include an MD, a Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and eligibility for licensure in the province of Alberta.
The successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing practice or by opening their own practice. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.
