Grande Prairie Regional Hospital is seeking a Surgical Assistant. Past experience and surgical assisting in a large regional hospital Operating Room setting is desired.
Surgical assist is required in a variety of surgical specialties including general surgery, urology, obstetrics & gynecology, otolaryngology and orthopedics, with experience in laparoscopic procedures.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Reside in and have as his/her primary residence, Grande Prairie
- Participation in an afterhours call schedule is a condition of ongoing employment
- Participate fully in quality programs and initiatives undertaken within Surgical Assisting in AHS, including (without limitation) achievement of certain performance indicators followed by AHS, exercising its discretion reasonably;
- Contribute to and participate in other clinical and administrative duties as assigned;
- Perform other duties (including without limitation administrative and reporting duties) and attendance at meetings as reasonably scheduled by the Facility Medical Director, Zone Clinical Department Facility Chief or delegate;

The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH) is a 208 bed acute care facility with a busy emergency department, ICU, NICU and specialty services in OB/Gyn, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, urology, palliative care, pediatrics, and psychiatry; hosting 10,000 discharges, approximately 55,000 emergency department visits, over 1,400 deliveries and more than 9,000 surgical procedures annually. The new hospital also includes radiation therapy services, further increasing the capacity to provide services to the people of Northwestern Alberta and Northeastern British Columbia.

- Must be eligible for CPSA licensure limited to surgical assistant
