Description:

The Department of Medicine, University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for a position as an academic gastroenterologist with a focus in advanced therapeutic endoscopy.  It is expected that the incumbent will be appointed to a full-time Clinical Faculty position in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary.

 The position is further defined as a Clinician Investigator with a minimum of 50% protected research time. Qualifications include an MD, FRCPC Gastroenterology, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.  Additional preferred qualifications include a graduate degree (MSc or higher) or equivalent training in research methodology. Applicants with very strong research potential including a track record of research output and who are willing to commit to additional research methodology training will also be considered. Academic appointment ranking will be based on qualifications and experience. However, the position is targeted at early career investigators.  Remuneration will be through an attractive remuneration and benefits package through the Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP).

Qualifications: 

The successful candidate must have a strong background in all aspects of gastroenterology, and there is an expectation that he/she will drive research and contribute to education in advanced endoscopy at the University of Calgary. The successful candidate will have completed at least 1 year of post-gastroenterology clinical fellowship training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy. The position will involve clinical work in pancreaticobiliary endoscopy including ERCP and EUSResearch will be an important focus with an expectation for high academic output. The position is specifically tailored to foster rewarding career development. Moreover, the candidate should also show demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and will be expected to participate in the undergraduate as well as postgraduate teaching activities of the Section and Department. 

 

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
