Recovery Alberta & Alberta Health Services, in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is inviting applications from Adult Psychiatrists to take on the role of Inpatient Psychiatrist at the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) in the Department of Addictions and Mental Health.
Recovery Alberta is part of Canada’s largest and only province-wide health service provider, providing care for more than 3 million people. Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of nursing, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, and speech-language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.2 million people in Edmonton and surrounding areas.
The successful candidate will provide psychiatric services to both the inpatient and outpatient settings at the University of Alberta Hospital. As part of the Inpatient Psychiatry Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients admitted to the University of Alberta Hospital's two Inpatient Acute Adult Psychiatry Units. Outpatient work will be provided in the Psychiatry treatment Clinic with 0.2 FTE dedicated to outpatient psychiatric support in the Gender Clinic.
Additionally, involvement and/or appointments with other programs within the Edmonton Zone Addictions and Mental health portfolio may be included as part of this position.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate medical students and/or resident physicians and will be required to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague appointment, which will be considered through a process with the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (FoMD).
The candidate will be expected to be involved in AHS and the University of Alberta program development initiatives and will be required to fully utilize AHS IT systems and processes, including Connect Care.
Remuneration will be on fee-for-service billings submitted to Alberta Health.
Target Start Date is July 1, 2025.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an MD and must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry, for licensure in the province of Alberta.
