The occupational wellbeing of physicians is recognized as an important factor in professional fulfillment and growth and directly impacts the provision of care to patients (Ripp & Shanafelt, 2020). The pressure to deliver more services on our physicians has been steadily increasing. The need to improve well-being and reduce physician burnout has long been acknowledged by senior leadership, but few interventions and improvements have been made to solve this critical issue. The threats to physician wellness are myriad and complex.
For these reasons, we propose to hire Community Physicians to provide high level mental health care to physicians in distress. These positions will focus on the importance of physician mental health. This will be 0.2 FTE AMHSP position with 100% clinical duties. The doctor will all be contracted nonparticipating members of the plan.
We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, across the Calgary Zone. We are an equal opportunity employer. AHS values the diversity of the people and communities we serve and is committed to attracting, engaging, and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce.
