Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector, in partnership with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a qualified Anatomic or Clinical (General) Pathologist with a Cytopathology Fellowship. Successful applicants will also be considered for appointment with the University of Alberta’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. The Department of Lab Medicine & Pathology, with 100+ pathologists’ functions as a Center of Excellence, supported by state-of-the-art ancillary testing capabilities (immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics and molecular pathology).
Job Summary & Responsibilities
Pathologist must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics, must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs, and must actively participate in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching. Responsibilities may include supervising technical staff, overseeing the laboratory quality assurance program, on-call requirements, clinical consultation with physicians, surgeons and oncologists. The successful applicant will be involved in the diagnostic activity across sites in the Edmonton region and is expected to become an active zonal consultant in their area(s) of expertise. In addition to a sub-specialty practice, participation in general surgical pathology practice may be required. Cytopathology Fellowship is required for recruitment.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology or (AP/CP) General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology. Fellowship training in Cytopathology is required for this position. International applicants meeting criteria for Alberta licensure are encouraged to apply (including J1 VISA holders), as this position is eligible for immigration sponsorship.
