Alberta Health Services in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine, invites applications for an Endocrinologist or General Internist to be based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) ambulatory Diabetes clinic located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of Canada’s premier academic medical institutions and is recognized among the world’s top 100 medical schools.  The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in the Department of Medicine is internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

 The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) Diabetes clinic, which is part of the Edmonton zone regional diabetes clinic, serves patients with diabetes in the Edmonton zone. The RAH Diabetes is a multidisciplinary clinic, with a team of physician, nurse and dietitian.

 

Responsibilities

The successful applicant is expected to participate in clinical service commitments in the Diabetes Clinic. The weekly volume is for 1 to 2 half day per week.  The skillsets required for the applicant are knowledge and experience in diabetes management, including Type 1 diabetes, insulin pumps, and interpretation of CGM downloads. Other expectations include excellent communication skills, and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.  It is expected that the clinic providers pursue regular professional activities to ensure the most up-to-date treatment modalities are brought to the clinic.  The successful applicant may also be involved in outpatient clinical teaching services, and outpatient clinical nonteaching services. This position is not for diabetes in pregnancy clinics but can be discussed.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an MD degree, or equivalent and be certified in Endocrinology or General Internal Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada.
