Recovery Alberta, in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is inviting applications from Psychiatrists to take on the role of Locum Psychiatrist in the Gender Health Program of the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) in the Department of Addictions and Mental Health.

Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, dietetics, education, and with access to speech and language pathology, providing education and assistance for more than 1.4 million people in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

This 0.5FTE (6-month term) position provides specialist Gender Psychiatry care to the gender diverse and trans-identified population across the age spectrum. The locum psychiatrist will work within the Gender Program to provide transitional services and psychiatry support within the scope of practice. The psychiatrist will offer assessments of Gender Dysphoria as well as psychiatric care for the gender-diverse and trans-identified population. An interest in the education of residents and students is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta, which will be considered through a separate process with the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (FoMD).

Candidates must have an MD and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry. They must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
