Description:
This is a 1.0 FTE Academic Teaching Physician Clinician Teacher permanent position, funded by the Academic Medicine Health Services Program (AMHSP), starting July 21, 2025. A minimum of 0.6 FTE (3 full days per week, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays), up to a maximum of 0.8 FTE (4 days per week, must include Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays), will expected to provide coverage of a patient panel at the Central Teaching Clinic, located at the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre, A maximum of 0.2 FTE clinical work outside the Academic Teaching Clinics can be considered for inclusion within the contract. A minimum of 20% of the total FTE must be dedicated to approved work in educational activities in connection with the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. Details in regards to educational roles/responsibilities and FTE allocation will be discussed with the successful candidate. Flexibility in regards to total FTE and FTE allocation is available, and will be considered on an individual basis.
FTE: 1.00, 80% Clinical 20% Education
Panel: The successful candidate will be expected to take over a panel of patients and be a primary preceptor for family medicine residents, and will be a member of the Calgary West Central PCN.
Clinical Teaching and Service Responsibilities:
· Provide medical services to the patients of the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) Academic
Teaching Clinics
· Provide clinical teaching and assessment to medical students, clerks, residents and Alberta International
Graduate (AIMG) Program Externs
· Provide task and patient coverage for colleagues as necessary; to provide continuity in time of need,
flexibility to perform additional clinics may be requested
· Participate in after-hours care including evening clinics
· Participate in the Alberta Triplicate Prescription Program
· Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development
· Attend meetings such as clinical operations meeting, academic business meeting, and clinical team
meetings when available
· Participate in relevant education activities
· Participate in Interprofessional Education

Qualifications:
• AHS Privileges through a Medical Staff appointment with the Section of Community Primary Care of the Department of Family Medicine
• Academic Appointment with the Department of Family Medicine
• Clinical teaching experience is considered an asset
• Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
