Description:
The hospitalist group at the South Health Campus is the largest admitting service at the site. We pride ourselves in providing excellent patient-centered care through the continuum of hospital care: seeing patients in the ER and following them onto our inpatient units and organizing post-acute care. We are responsible for ordering treatments, tests, and consulting with specialty physicians and primary care physicians where appropriate. Addiction, mental health and social issues frequently complicate the medical issues; advocacy at the patient and system level will be a key part of this role.
We are looking for a clinician who is highly receptive and seeks regular feedback. We expect that clinicians who are hired be involved with various quality improvement initiatives and be actively involved with other non-clinical activities (i.e. Attending business meetings, medical education sessions, and fundraisers/socials to "committee work of their interest").
There is 1 position available starting on February 1, 2025. There are no regularly scheduled shifts or rounding. Rather, we are seeking a permanent line composed solely of locum work. This is expected to be irregular. The purpose is to fill in for hospitalists who are away on vacation, parental leave or leave of absence. However, there will be an expectation that the physician will support summer and Christmas/New year coverage on a continuous basis. A physician filling this position would be assigned locum work consisting of shifts and rounding patients. We expect the amount of work available to make up to an anticipated 1.0 FTE. There is an accompanying probationary period with this position.
Time Requirement:
1.0 Clinical FTE is anticipated. This will include up to 1-2 night shifts per week, as well as at least 1 weekend per four weeks. Additionally some evening shifts can be expected. Successful candidates will also be expected to round daily and act as most responsible physician for a group of admitted hospital patients.
We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, across the Calgary Zone. We are an equal opportunity employer. AHS values the diversity of the people and communities we serve and is committed to attracting, engaging, and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce.
