Physician Lead Quality Assurance and Improvement, Department of Surgery, Calgary Zone

 

 

The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services–Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for the position of Physician Lead Quality Assurance and Improvement in Calgary, Alberta.  This leadership position is open to surgeons currently working at AHS. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an interest in surgical leadership and will have a respected profile in the physician community. They will have effective communication skills and a track record of engaging their team members. They will have demonstrated success in areas of clinical practice and either education, research, quality improvement or leadership.

 The Physician Lead Quality Assurance and Improvement, Department of Surgery, Calgary Zone plays an important role in supporting the mission of the Department of Surgery.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities include:

 

1.Maintain a comprehensive quality improvement plan for the department in collaboration with the sections and other stakeholders in alignment with institutional priorities. 

2.Present updates as needed on progress to the Department of Surgery Surgical Executive Committee and Zone Surgical Services Operations Committee. 

3.Lead the Office of Surgical Quality in the Department of Surgery which can serve as a liaison between the sections, the hospital executive staff, the Provincial QI team and medical staff administration. 

4.Organize and chair the Department of Surgery Quality Council Committee meetings. 

5.Assist in coordinating quality initiatives in the Department of Surgery and collaborate with NSQIP initiatives. 

6.Support the section QI and Safety. 

 

FTE:

0.15FTE Medical Affair Honoraria

October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2028.
