This is a meaningful and high-impact leadership opportunity for a seasoned family physician passionate about equity and system-wide collaboration. As Community Primary Care Section Chief within Alberta Health Services’ Department of Family Medicine (Calgary Zone), you'll guide nearly 400 physicians providing community-based care—including those working with underserved populations through organizations like Alex, CUPS, Elbow River Healing Lodge, and East Calgary Family Care Centre.
This unique advisory role offers influence across clinical strategy, communication, education, and process improvement. You’ll collaborate with Primary Care Networks and AHS departments, participate in continuing medical education planning, and help develop province-wide initiatives such as QuRE, Alberta Find a Doctor, and FAST. Your leadership will reinforce accountability, strengthen relationships across the health system, and shape primary care pathways for the entire zone.
Committee engagement spans the Clinical Executive, Communications, Lab Steering, and provincial planning bodies, giving you a voice where strategic decisions are made. If you're ready to lead with purpose, advocate for thoughtful care delivery, and help unify physicians across AHS and affiliated clinics, this position puts you at the center of meaningful change.
We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, across the Calgary Zone. We are an equal opportunity employer. AHS values the diversity of the people and communities we serve and is committed to attracting, engaging, and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills are essential, along with knowledge of Calgary Zone structures. Interest in research, education, or advancing community care is a welcome asset.
