The Medical Site Leader provides operational leadership related to the medical care of residents admitted to Carewest Garrison Green Long Term Care. This position involves ensuring quality of care in accordance with AHS – Calgary Zone Department of Family Medicine service delivery parameters, and the Continuing Care Health Service Standards of Alberta Health, in particular Standards 1.4, 1.10, 3.0 and 17 (regarding Physician Services). https://www.alberta.ca/continuing-care-legislation-and-standards
The role requires collaboration with, and reporting to, Carewest medical leadership. Since physician services at Carewest Garrison Green will be funded by an extension of the Calgary Hospitalist Alternate Relationship Plan (the “ARP”), for the purposes of accountability and alignment with the ARP and integration of potential care innovations across care sectors, the Medical Site Leader Garrison Green will also have joint reporting to the ARP Authorized Representative(s).
The duties of the Medical Site Leader include the following:
• Support the medical staff in the provision of optimal medical care, including supporting and developing appropriate continuing medical education opportunities
• Collaborate with the medical staff, and operational leaders to ensure implementation of applicable policy, procedures, and standards
• Fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the Government of Alberta Continuing Care Health Service Standards, specifically regarding physician services
• Collaborate with Carewest and Alberta Health Services leaders and staff to deliver the proposed innovations in care outlined in the ARP agreements
• Collaborate with the ARP board leadership to ensure alignment with ARP reporting requirements and all policies

Qualifications:
The role requires a current medical staff appointment with the Department of Family Medicine, AHS Calgary – with appointment to the Continuing Care Division. It is preferred that the incumbent will be a participating physician in the ARP model at the site.
This role will require 0.05 FTE.
Eligible for licensure and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and CMPA
