Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Department Facility Chief (ZCDFC), Adult Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – Sturgeon Community Hospital (SCH).
This 0.15 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Adult Critical Care and to the Facility Medical Director (FMD), SCH. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
This position provides input into the development of policies and criteria for procedures as they relate to the Adult Critical Care Intensive Care Unit as well as reviewing and recommending privileges for physicians working within the Adult Critical Care Department. This position is accountable for, but not limited to the following:
• The resolution of physician-related and clinical-operational matters
• Providing clinical leadership, consultation, support and coaching to the site Adult Critical Care Physicians, medical staff and allied health staff
• Monitoring clinical practice and medical staff in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules
• Advocating for the provision of overall quality, patient safety, and patient care.
The position has an expected start date of approximately May 1, 2026 and an expected term of 3 years.

They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
