Medical Director, Trauma Services position,
DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY, CALGARY ZONE AHS
The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services–Calgary Zone invite applications for the leadership position of Medical Director, Trauma Services position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide coordination of a multidisciplinary, inter-professional Trauma Services.
- Provide medical direction for physicians and supporting members of Trauma Services.
- Manage the following aspects of the Trauma Services program:
- Review and revise admission criteria for the service as required.
- Work with AHS for them to provide adequate clinical coverage of the service.
- Workforce planning, including development of 2-, 5- and 10-year retirement and recruitment plans.
- Develop evidence informed multidisciplinary protocols and guidelines for the care of multiple injury patients.
- Develop continuous improvement and reporting outcomes.
- Participate in and/or lead Trauma Services accreditation activities as required.
- Participate in the ongoing promotion and development of Zone, Provincial and National Trauma standards and Trauma societies.
- Represent the Department of Surgery at committees as assigned by the Zone Clinical Department Head, Surgery as requested.
- Supply, at request of the Calgary Zone Clinical Department Head, Surgery and/or Zone Clinical Section Chief General Surgery such materials as is required for departmental and section reports.
- Provide promotion and organization of undergraduate, graduate and continuing trauma education.
- Promote, support and participate in trauma related research.
- Participate in the Trauma Association of Canada (TAC). Report back on the relevant activities of TAC to the Department of Surgery
Qualifications:
This position is open to current active members of Department of Surgery, Calgary Zone AHS, who are in good standing and hold active privileges in AHS.
The ideal candidate will have leadership experience by holding positions in AHS or the Cumming School of Medicine. They will have excellent communication skills and conflict management skills. They will have experience with team building, engaging others and implementing new initiatives. They will reflect the core values of the Department of Surgery and Alberta Health Services and the Cumming School of Medicine in their current practice.
FTE and Remuneration:
0.15 FTE, Medical Affairs Honorarium Grid
Currently $40,725.00 per annum.

5 years
