The Department of Clinical Neurosciences (DCNS) (http://www.ucalgary.ca/dcns/) in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, invites applications for a General Neurologist to join a large clinical and academic neurology group. Calgary is a large, cosmopolitan city just one hour from the Rocky Mountains, offering both a dynamic urban life with great restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, and access to some of the world&rsquo#CD#s most beautiful national parks just an hour from the city.
The DCNS represents a hub of world class research in neurosciences, outstanding clinical programs, and a diverse, dynamic, and collegial group of neurologists, neurosurgeons, physiatrists, and neuroscientists, who collaborate daily with one another and with our close colleagues in neuroradiology and neuropathology. The Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Division of Neurology are committed to fostering diversity through cultivating an environment where people with a variety of backgrounds, genders, interests and talents feel welcome and included. We are seeking a Neurologist who will deliver high quality care to patients with neurological problems in both ambulatory and inpatient neurology and consultation services. Participation in Division and Department academic activities including quality improvement rounds, grand rounds, business meetings, and educational work is an expectation of the role.
We are looking for Part-time Nocturnists. Each position at 0.1FTE.
The successful candidates will be RCPSC-certified neurologists. This role will include evening, nighttime, and weekend fee-for-service work to look after the inpatient neurology services at Foothills Medical Centre to assist with gaps in resident coverage. Nocturnists will participate in in-house call 2 to 4 nights per month, working as an independent practitioner in-house. Shifts will begin at 5:00pm and run until 8:00am the following morning. Responsibilities will include new ER consults, ward calls, taking external phone calls from surrounding rural hospitals and urgent care facilities, and urgent in-patient consults. Coverage will include both neurology inpatient wards.
Successful applicant will be required to participate in 2-3 training nights of call.

Qualifications:
Qualifications include an MD, a specialist certificate in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. We require a neurologist who has demonstrated a record of success in an academic environment, proven clinical excellence, a record of working well within a team, demonstrated organizational, leadership, collaboration and teaching skills are required. Additional training in sleep neurology would be an asset.
The ability to participate fully in the Calgary City-Wide call schedule is required. Must read, write and speak English. All qualified candidates are encourage to apply#CD# however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.
